Reactive Dog Workshops

When I first met Frank, his owner was distressed. She had succumbed to walking Frank very early morning when no one was around. If she spotted another dog, she was forced to hide behind bushes.

After just two sessions, Frank not only met my lab, Holly; but they played ball together off-lead.

Frank has since gone on to meeting, walking and playing ball with my GS, Cass; all off-lead.

It's amazing what can be achieved with a little patience and an owner who handles their dog calmly, offering support to them, when requested.

If you'd like to learn how develop your bond with your dog to reduce reactivity, please do get in touch.

The premises at Tern Hill is a safe and calm working environment that allows dogs to relax and focus on their training. New! Sniffer/Reactive Dog Workshop

Harnessing the power of scentwork can help you to overcome a range of reactivity issues whether your dog is nervous, fear aggressive, lead reactive or just totally over-excitable when it sees another dog. This two hour 1:1 workshop will teach you and your dog the basics of 'find it' games that you can use to help to calm them in times of stress. You will receive clear 1:1 instruction and then be taught how to successfully manage an appropriate approach to another dog.

£70 for a 2 hr session.

Reactive Dog Workshop

Working alongside Maria, we will begin to identify the reason for your dog's reactivity; stress, fear, nervousness, excitability. You will then be shown effective techniques to successfully manage and improve your dog's reactions, utilising my stooge dog, Holly, who is totally non-reactive. You will be able to then take these techniques away to work with your dog in the real world or we'll work together to develop a short programme of further support to develop your dog's ability to cope better around other dogs.

£70 for a 2hr session

Examples of other issues we can help you to tackle:

  • Loose Lead Walking & Focus
  • Reliable Recalls
  •  Impulse/Frustration Control
  • Jumping up & over-excitability
  • Nervousness around people
  • Building confidence
  • Separation Anxiety
  • Fear Desensitisation
  • Attention Barking

and a range of other issues.

Appointments are available evenings & weekends as well as throughout the day.

Another Success Story for a Reactive Dog

Lurcher Harley is very well trained but unfortunately highly reactive. He enrolled onto our Canine College Course but found being surrounded by 5 other dogs, far too overwhelming so we decided to deliver his course on a 1:1 instead.

He was gradually introduced to my Holly and here he is, after just 4 sessions, enjoying a walk with her.
